Four directions

The same merchant Home screen, designed four ways. Same content in each — so you're comparing the design, not the words.

How to judge these. Open each on your phone first, since that's where a merchant lives. Then open the same one on a laptop — a direction that only works at phone width hasn't answered the brief. You're not looking for the prettiest. You're looking for the one you'd be comfortable having open on a counter where a customer can see it. Trust the first three seconds; that reaction is the signal.
Direction A
Precision Tool

Dense and restrained, like a professional instrument. Colour appears only where an action costs you something.

Avenir Next · neutral grey + electric blue

Direction B
Built for the Counter

Bold and immediate, for someone standing up mid-shift with a customer waiting. The send button is the biggest thing on screen.

Futura · electric ink + signal orange

Direction C
Quiet Premium

Whitespace used as a material. Calm on a phone, expensive-looking on a laptop.

Optima · muted pine

Direction D
Dark, Sharp, Modern

Dark-first with one warm signal colour. Meant to read as newer than the POS sitting next to it.

Seravek · dark + signal orange
